CODE SYSTEM MAGNETI MARELLI (Fiat and Alfa Romeo) — March 28, 2015

CODE SYSTEM MAGNETI MARELLI (Fiat and Alfa Romeo)

It is a system of transponder type and will provide factory three keys of which one is called master key and serves to program new keys in case it was necessary. The master key also allows starting the engine, but this only should be done if you have lost the other two keys and only if emergency.

The system components in a vehicle equipped with injection electronics are:

  • A Master Key
  • From 2-7 Keys Slaves
  • An antenna or Unity Reader
  • Central locking electronics
  • Central Engine electronics (ECU)
  • A card or ALFA ROMEO FIAT CODE coded emergency

The system components in a vehicle equipped with Diesel Conventional injection are:

  • A Master Key
  • From 2-7 Keys Slaves or Service.
  • An antenna or Unity Reader
  • Central locking electronics
  • Unit DDS (Inhibitor stop solenoid pump diesel)
  • A card or ALFA ROMEO FIAT CODE coded emergency
  • A decision-exclusive diagnostic system scan

Service keys

The keys used in this vehicle immobilizer system are the usual identical except that one incorporated in the handle emitter chip transponder type. This component consists of three parts: supply circuit memory containing a specific and unique code, and emitter circuit.

The transponder has no power internal, so the keys do not need stack. The voltage required for generates operation induced by a varying magnetic field. Magnetic field is created by the action of a sinusoidal voltage current flowing by the reader unit (antenna), this current is sent by the unit immobilizer that when operates the ignition key.

Low supply voltage, the issuer of the transponder emits a train of pulse (s) via a radio frequency signal to be captured by the reading unit, which then acts as an antenna. Each key emits a different code that can not be changed and will be the enabling the control unit to recognize whether the key is authorized or not. A key is authorized when your code has been recorded in the unit immobilizer, every attempt to start, both codes must match because otherwise no authorization is issued to the control unit motor. In the event that the key is damaged, or is incorrectly programmed, the engine will start.

A common cause of failure is the loss of the chip due to the accidental opening of the wrench handle. It also often happens that in a fall or hit the key, the chip is moved into its housing and away from the influence of the magnetic field has no voltage. This also occurs if the chip is not mounted at the correct position. For these reasons is advisable, in case of failure, the above aspects and verify before losing more time, try booting with another service keys.

If necessary, it should be note that the chips are interchangeable, and can be dismantling of a key and ride another without any problem, which solves easily some situations.
